LUSTRUM YEAR 2018. In 2018, the Leids Kamerkoor celebrated its 30th anniversary with a dazzling lustrum year: a children’s concert in February, a Leiden Hofjes Concert on Whit Monday, a summer concert on the theme of the Great War 1914-1918, culminating in Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle in November!  Read further…

 

SUMMER CONCERT: AND THERE WAS A GREAT CALM. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War – a war that changed the world. On 17th June, the Leids Kamerkoor gave a concert entitled ‘And There Was a Great Calm’. With this concert, we did not only want to commemorate, through the consoling beauty of music, those lost in this terrible war, but also to cherish the precious happiness of living in peace and freedom. LEIDEN HOFJES CONCERTS 2018: TOP MUSIC IN TOP LOCATIONS. On 21st May, Whit Monday, the Leids Kamerkoor has been invited to sing during the 10th edition of the Leiden Hojfes Concerts: a festival which allows the Leiden audience to enjoy a palette of artists and music styles in the beautiful surroundings of some 20 Leiden courtyards. CHILDREN’S CONCERT – MUSIC FLOWS INTO YOUR EARS. In February, the Leids Kamerkoor organised a special concert in the Volkshuis in Leiden for children aged 6 to 106. This concert, with two performances of about 45 minutes, prickled ears and curiosity. A narrator helped the public discover new musical matters over and over again. SILVER AWARDED TO THE LEIDS KAMERKOOR IN FINLAND ! The year marks the 40th anniversary of the Tampere Vocal Music Festival and the 150th birthday of composer Jean Sibelius. The Leids Kamerkoor directed by Jeroen Spitteler travelled to Finland to take part and received a Silver Award in the Chorus Review !
